About New Money Rules
New laws in 2025 changed taxes, student loans and home buying for millions of people. New Money Rules turns those rules into calculators that give you a number, and guides that explain where the number comes from.
What we cover
The site has 7 calculators today:
- No tax on tips: Deduct up to $25,000 of tips, 2025 to 2028.
- No tax on overtime: Deduct the half-time part of overtime pay.
- Car loan interest: Deduct up to $10,000 of interest on a new US-built car.
- Senior deduction: An extra $6,000 for each person aged 65 or older.
- Trump accounts: Project a child’s account from the $1,000 seed.
- RAP student loans: Estimate the new Repayment Assistance Plan payment.
- Canada first-home GST rebate: Up to $50,000 back on a new home.
How we work
Every calculator is built from the text of the law and official guidance from the IRS, the Department of Education or the Canada Revenue Agency. Each page lists its sources. When a rule is not settled, the page says so. Read our editorial policy for details.
The calculators run in your browser. The numbers you type are not sent to us or stored.
Who runs the site
New Money Rules is run by Abdur Rafay Akbar, an independent publisher. The site is not a tax adviser, law firm or lender, and it is not linked to any government agency.
How the site is paid for
The site is free to use and may show ads from Google AdSense. Ads do not affect what we write or how the calculators work. See the privacy policy for how ads use cookies.
